Trip Description

On the opposite side of the river is the South Devon coastline, and depending on time and tides our Dawlish Round Robin will occasionally sail over for you to take a closer look. Starting over at the Dawlish Warren Nature Reserve, you will see this 500-acre area of protected grassland, sand dune and mudflats that give a home to many species of plants and birds from the unique perspective of the water. We then sail past the seaside resort of Dawlish Warren, Dawlish town and on to the infamous rock formation, The Parson and the Clerk, where legend has it that a grasping parson and his clerk were turned to stone by the devil as a monument to greed.

During each trip, your Skipper gives live, useful and entertaining commentary, making sure you don’t miss out on any of the sights and features of the seascape as you pass by. These cruises sail on our boat, the Pride of Exmouth. Onboard you will find a fully licensed bar serving a range of local ales and gin, alongside a range of hot and cold refreshments and snacks. Keeping its traditional features, this boat is also modern, exceptionally clean and well-maintained and has toilets on board.

The outside upper decks have great views and plenty of fresh sea air for you, whilst our covered and heated lower decks have large wide windows, meaning you will always get great views of whatever the British weather has in store!

As this is a sea-going cruise, the sea state can be affected by the weather and the winds. If the weather conditions are unsuitable for a pleasant trip, we reserve the right to cancel. In these circumstances, we will offer to transfer you onto another date or issue you with a refund.

Sailing from April through to October, our Dawlish Round Robins are a great day out enabling you to explore a wider area.

Where do I get my train ticket?

Your train ticket is included in the cost of the cruise. When we issue your cruise ticket at the departure point, we will issue you with a rail ticket at the same time.

Are the train tickets dated?

Yes, you may travel at any time of the day to/ from Exmouth to/from Dawlish on 1 single continuous trip but the ticket must be redeemed on the same day as your cruise.

Can I hop on/off at different stations?

Yes, you may use your ticket to hop on/off on multiple GWR trains at most stations with the exception of Exeter St David's & Exeter Central Station where you must remain in the station. Your ticket can, however, only be used on the route & direction printed on the ticket.

Are these trips wheelchair friendly?

Due to the landing at Dawlish, which is directly onto a beach, we do not recommend this trip for people who struggle with mobility or need a wheelchair.

Where is the departure point?

Our Dawlish Round Robin departs from Exmouth OR Dawlish. Please report to our booking office at Exmouth Marina for trips departing Exmouth, at least 15 minutes before the cruise is set to depart so that we can direct you further. If meeting the boat at Dawlish, please queue by our sign at least 15 minutes before our arrival. Please check your ticket to see the departure point.

We booked a short trip on the Tudor Rose to scatter my husband's ashes at sea, and his mum's ashes too. We were well looked after by Will and Kev who made sure we knew what we were doing and were so friendly. We had 4 small children with us, who loved the trip and it was so much nicer than an ordinary funeral. We scattered the ashes with petals and roses and the children blew bubbles - a lovely way for them to say goodbye to their grandad who loved the sea and boats and especially Budleigh Salterton. We then raised a glass to Geoff and Buddy and the children had ice-cream. We were lucky with the weather too, a great tribute and fitting way to remember them both.
Thank you Will and Kev, and Amanda who helped us to make the arrangements. I can't recommend Stuart Line Cruises highly enough.

Had a wonderful cruise along the coast complete with cream tea. Scones were already loaded with cream and jam yes, but I can,t see how you could do it yourself on bouncing boat at sea. Very informative commentary. All crew were very happy and helpful. Can,t wait to visit again for another trip. Thanks for a lovely afternoon! I even got a September sun tan

Second time we did a trip and it was as good as the first.
Very easy to book and very organised. The captain gave us a good commentary on the way out. The facilities on board are good. There is a bar serving hot and cold drinks and snacks (crisps/choc bars). You can go and get them yourselves or wait for someone to come and take your order.
We were on the upper deck which was outside and were given blankets and umbrellas as the weather was a bit changeable. You could also go inside where it was dry and warmer.
I really recommend them for a lovely day out.

We booked a private Cruise for the Exetraordinary Women WI Summer Party and had the most amazing evening. The booking process with Amanda was so smooth and professional and nothing was too much trouble. The catering options were very good and we went for the BBQ. It was all cooked fresh on the boat and was excellent with great quality burger, sausage and salad. There were even leftovers so people could have seconds. The vegetarian option was just as good and everyone was so pleased for the price. The bar staff were very efficient and the bottles of wine came out chilled all night - perfect.
Overall we had an amazing night and are looking to book next year as it was such a success and would certainly recommend them for a great evening cruise.

Great day out.
Be warned. They prepare the cream tea before and serve it already loaded with jam and cream. I asked for mine to have only a little cream and I would like to do it myself. The response I got from the member of staff was that they don’t have time to serve it like that. I explained nicely that I’m a bit fussy but she did get a bit frustrated. I did get the spare scone with just jam on and it was absolutely delicious. Our party of four had a great time and loved it.
Customer service was just a bit rude by one member with my requirements.

Professionally run boat trips around Exmouth and beyond. Prices are very reasonable compared to others. Booked the mini cruise and the Dawlish round robin, returning by train alongside the river via Exeter.

Fabulous event held for our group on the Tudor Rose. Crew were excellent and organised fish and chips (through Krispies) for us. Food was hot and fresh. Team kept us upto date all through booking process. Definitely recommend for a super organised, informative and friendly trip.

We went on an evening cruise up the Exe during a very high spring tide which meant we could go a long way up the estuary. It was a really reasonable price for 2 people for 2 hours. On board, there was a bar with lovely local bottled ales, small snacks and extremely friendly crew. We went up top and really enjoyed being able to watch the black swans and hear the captain's commentary. When the sun went down, they turned on some beautiful fairy lights which made the evening feel quite magical.

Went on the round trip to Brixham. Damn good value. Fantastic day out, in fact one of our best days out for a very long time. Everything went smoothly, crew and staff really friendly and informative --- icing on the cake was the dolphins swimming alongside.
