Now in its fifth year, the English Riviera Air Show – previously the Torbay Air Show – is a magnificent flying feast for the eyes. This is the first show of the RAF’s busy summer season and includes displays from their top line-up including The Red Arrows, The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Eurofighter Typhoon jet.
Since 2016, this free event has been organised by Torbay Council, supported by the Coastal Communities Fund, Torbay Development Agency and a range of local organisations and with support from those who have enjoyed the previous years’ events, helping to ‘bring the noise’ to Torbay again this year.
As such a great day out for families and friends, this show has been increasingly popular since its launch it now attracts over 165,000 people to Torbay.
Using the natural amphitheatre of the bay, the planes certainly #bringthenoise along with everything you would expect to see from this world class team of pilots.
The most publicly famous of all the displays has to be the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows. One of the world’s premier aerobatic display teams, they embody the speed, agility and precision of the Royal Air Force and provide the public face of the service. Not only providing fantastic displays, the team help with recruitment and act as ambassadors for the United Kingdom all over the world.
Flying distinctive Hawk fast-jets, the team of pilots, engineers and support staff have frontline and operational experience. Their characteristically close formation, precision flying and Diamond Nine shape have formed part of their displays since 1965. Based in Lincolnshire and now in their 54th season, they have flown nearly 4,900 displays in 57 countries.
Setting sail at 10.00am on our Pride of Exmouth boat we arrive in Torquay at around midday. We land to give you a short stop in the town before we set sail into the bay to settle down and enjoy the show. We have outside upper decks with plenty of fresh air and also inside heated lower decks with large windows for perfectly protected viewing.
There is a bar on board selling a range of local ales and Exmouth’s very own Copperfrog gin along with a range of refreshments and snacks. Our vessels are exceptionally clean and well maintained and there are toilets on board.
As this is a sea-going cruise, the sea state can be affected by the weather and the winds. If the weather conditions are unsuitable for a pleasant trip, we reserve the right to cancel. In these circumstances, we will offer to transfer you onto another date or issue you with a refund.
