MSC Napoli

The grounding of the MSC Napoli off Branscombe beach on the 14th January 2007 brought the Jurassic Coast Line and its gateway towns to the world's attention. The possible disastorous effects to the coastline, its marine and bird life and also the tourism businesses of the local towns was the subject of many an article and news report.

The River Exe and the town of Exmouth were largely unaffected, thanks mainly to fortunate weather.

All cruises with Stuart Line were unaffected by the disaster including the summer coastal cruises, all day wildlife and geology cruises. In fact many people enjoyed trips with us from both Sidmouth and Seaton beaches out to view the salvage work and we were there they day she was blown in two and the bow section towed away.

Current predictions are that work will be finished by April 2008 so it may still be possible to view on our early Coastal Cruises
